The Große Däbersee is a natural lake in Waldsieversdorf in the Märkisch-Oderland district in eastern Brandenburg . It is part of the Märkische Schweiz nature park .

Origin and location

The approximately 18.6 hectare lake was created from a dead ice hole during the Vistula Ice Age . The mean water depth is 8 meters; at its deepest point the lake is about 16 meters deep. At an average water level, the lake level is 40.7  m above sea level. NHN . The inflow takes place over the Diebsgraben from Müncheberg through the nature reserve Gumnitz and Großer Schlagenthinsee over the Kreuzfließ and the Kleiner Däbersee . The Mühlenplumpe , the Bullenwiese and some fish ponds form the drain into the Stöbber . The lake is stratified, the trophy index is 3.3, i.e. H. the lake is eutrophic. the lake level has risen by 90 cm compared to the topographic map 1: 25,000 from 1942 (at that time 39.8 m above sea level).

The Große Däbersee is located in the southeast of the municipality of Waldsieversdorf and is largely surrounded by forest. A paved road runs along the north-west of the lake. In the far north there has been a bathing area ( public bath ) since the 20th century . This official bathing facility is equipped with lawns, a water slide and diving platform. On the eastern shore of the lake is a log cabin that was built according to the instructions of John Heartfield in the early 1960s. The artist lived here with his wife and children for most of the year until his death in 1968.

A signposted circular hiking trail runs around the lake for around three kilometers.

history

The lake is called Döber See around 1790. In the Urmes table sheet 3450 Müncheberg from 1843 he is already called Gr. Däbersee. The name is derived from an Old Polish / Old Sorbian basic form * Dobr- = good. In the figurative sense z. In the case of lakes, for example, this can also mean “beautiful, clear, clean” or “useful” in the sense of rich in fish.

Flora and fauna

The banks are partly overgrown with the rare water hose . The freshwater sponge is also found on the east side . Eels , perches , pikes , crucian carp , carp , roach , tench and pikeperch live in the lake . The Große Däbersee is a registered fishing water with the number 1703. Fishing licenses can be purchased at the Märkische Fischereibetrieb Rinaus in Waldsieversdorf and at H. Kleiber in Münchehofe .
