Edinburgh Northern and Leith is a constituency for the Scottish Parliament . It was introduced in 1999 under the name Edinburgh North and Leith as one of nine constituencies in the Lothians electoral region . As part of the revision in 2011, Edinburgh North and Leith was redesigned and renamed Edinburgh Northern and Leith . The constituency includes the northern areas of Edinburgh , especially the Leith district . The constituency sends a representative.
The constituency extends over an area of 15 km 2 . In the 2011 census survey, a total of 86,344 people lived within its borders. This makes Edinburgh Northern and Leith both the second most populous and the smallest constituency for the Scottish Parliament.
