Edinburgh Central is a constituency for the Scottish Parliament . It was founded in 1999 as one of nine constituencies of the election region Lothians introduced, as part of the revision of constituencies again cut in 2011 and in Lothian has been renamed. The Edinburgh Central constituency comprises central and western areas of the city of Edinburgh . As part of the constituency revision, Edinburgh Central was redesigned ahead of the 2011 general election . The constituency sends a representative.
The constituency extends over an area of 16.7 km 2 . In the 2011 census survey, a total of 83,867 people lived within its borders.
