Ian McKee (* in South Shields ) is a Scottish politician and a member of the Scottish National Party .

McKee attended Fettes College and then studied medicine at Edinburgh University . In the following years McKee worked as a doctor and joined the SNP in 1998. For the first time McKee went to the general election in 1999 for national elections. In the parliamentary elections in 2003 and 2007 McKee applied for the direct mandate of the Edinburgh Pentlands constituency , but could only book the third highest share of the vote for itself in both cases. In 2007, McKee was also placed third on the SNP's regional electoral list for the Lothians electoral region and, as a result of the election results, moved into the Scottish Parliament for the first time as a representative of the electoral region. At the end of the legislature, McKee left parliament.
