Sarah Boyack

Sarah Boyack (born May 16, 1961 in Glasgow ) is a Scottish politician and member of the Labor Party . In the Scottish general elections in 1999 , 2003 and 2007 , she won the seat as a direct candidate in the constituency of Edinburgh Central . In the 2011 parliamentary elections, she was defeated by her opponent Marco Biagi from the Scottish National Party (SNP), but moved into parliament as a candidate for the Lothian electoral region .

Life

Boyack visited one of the first female students, the Royal High School in Edinburgh . She went on to study modern history and politics at the University of Glasgow , which she completed with a master's degree. She then enrolled at Heriot-Watt University in Edinburgh, where she graduated in urban and spatial planning. In the following years she worked in the area of ​​spatial planning and from 1992 as a lecturer at Heriot-Watt University and at the Edinburgh College of Art.

Between 1999 and 2001, Sarah Boyack took the post of Minister for the Environment, Transport and Planning. During this time it implemented free bus transport for the elderly and the disabled and laid the foundation for the establishment of national parks. In 2007 she was appointed State Secretary for Environment and Development.
