Edinburgh Western is a constituency for the Scottish Parliament . It was founded in 1999 under the name Edinburgh West as one of nine constituencies of the election region Lothians introduced. In the course of the revision of the electoral regions in 2011, the Lothians region was redesigned and renamed Lothian . The borders of Edinburgh West were redrawn and the constituency renamed Edinburgh Western . The constituency includes the western areas and suburbs of Edinburgh and sends one MP.
The constituency covers an area of 81.2 km 2 . In the 2011 census survey, a total of 75,794 people lived within its borders.
