Colin Keir

Colin Keir (born December 9, 1959 in Edinburgh ) is a Scottish politician and member of the Scottish National Party .

Life

Keir attended Craigmount High School and Stevenson College . He then worked in the office supplies trade and then for a bus company. At the same time, Keir was elected to the Edinburgh City Council. Furthermore, he was a Scottish schoolmaster in cross-country and 5000-meter run.

Political career

For the first time Keir competed in the 2011 Scottish general election to national elections. In his constituency of Edinburgh Western , he immediately won the highest percentage of votes, replacing Labor politician Margaret Smith , who had won the mandate of the predecessor constituency of Edinburgh West since the first parliamentary elections in 1999. Keir has been a member of the Scottish Parliament for the first time since 2011 .
