Edinburgh Eastern is a constituency for the Scottish Parliament . It was in 2011 during the revision of electoral boundaries as one of nine constituencies of the election region Lothian introduced. The constituency emerged from the split of the constituency of Edinburgh East and Musselburgh , which was essentially merged into Edinburgh Eastern and Midlothian North and Musselburgh . The Edinburgh Eastern area comprises the eastern and south-eastern boroughs of Edinburgh . The constituency sends a representative.
The constituency extends over an area of 30.8 km 2 . In the 2011 census survey, a total of 79,883 people lived within its borders.
