Michael Crockart
Michael Crockart (born March 19, 1966 in Perth ) is a Scottish politician.
Life
Crockart was born in Perth in 1966. He grew up there and moved to Edinburgh in 1984 to study Politics at Edinburgh University . He later worked in the financial sector, as a police officer and as a systems developer.
Political career
Crockart has been active for the Liberal Democrats since 1985 and ran for various elections for the Edinburgh City Council. For the first time Crockart appeared in the general election in 2005 to elections at the national level. He ran for the electoral district of Edinburgh North and Leith for the Liberal Democrats , but on election day he was defeated by Labor candidate Mark Lazarowicz , who had represented the constituency in the British lower house since 2001 . For the Scottish parliamentary elections in 2007 Crockart stood in the constituency of Edinburgh Northern and Leith , but was defeated by the Labor politician Malcolm Chisholm . After his party colleague John Barrett did not run for the 2010 general election, Crockart applied for the seat of the constituency of Edinburgh West as his successor . Despite losing votes, Crockart won the mandate and moved into the British House of Commons for the first time. In 2010 he held the post of Secretary of Parliament to the Scotland Minister Michael Moore . Between 2012 and 2013 he also acted as party spokesman for energy and climate change. In the general election in 2015 , Crockart could not prevail against the SNP candidate Michelle Thomson and he was subsequently eliminated from the British House of Commons.
