Planomicrobium soli is a type of bacteria . The species is one of the firmicutes .

features

Appearance

The color of the colonies of Planomicrobium soli is pale orange. The cells are cocci-shaped or short rod-shaped (0.8–1 μm). Endospores are not formed. The bacterium is motile by a polar flagellum .

Growth and metabolism

Planomicrobium soli is chemoorganotrophic and aerobic . Growth takes place at temperatures between 4 and 38 ° C, best growth at temperatures between 28 and 30 ° C. The optimal pH value is between 7 and 8, values from 6 to 10 are tolerated. Nitrate is not reduced to nitrite . The bacterium is positive for catalase , the oxidase test is negative.

It hydrolyses gelatine , esculin and casein , a hydrolysis of polysorbate 80 (Tween 80) and starch does not take place. The urease test is positive. Hydrogen sulfide is not formed.

Glucose or sucrose can be used as the only carbon and energy source by the bacteria.

Chemotaxonomic Features

The Gram staining of Planomicrobium soli is positive. The predominantly present menaquinones are MK-7 and MK-8. The peptidoglycan type is A4α, the cell wall contains the amino acids L- lysine , glutamic acid and alanine . The main phospholipids of the membrane are phosphatidylethanolamines , phosphatidylglycerols and diphosphatidylglycerols. The GC content in the DNA is 40.3 mol percent.

Systematics

Planomicrobium soli belongs to the family Planococcaceae , which in turn belongs to the order Bacillales of the Firmicutes. The bacterium was first described by Xiaonan Luo and co-workers in 2014 . It was isolated from a soil sample in the Inner Mongolia area . Phylogenetically, the bacterium is closest to the species Planomicrobium okeanokoites , Planomicrobium koreense , Planomicrobium mcmeekinii and Planomicrobium flavidum .

etymology

The generic name is made up of the Greek words planos ("wanderer") and micros ("small") and refers to the size (it is either cocci or short rods) and the property of the motility of these bacteria. The species name P. soli is derived from the Latin word "Soli" (soil) and refers to the place where it was found; the bacterium was isolated from a soil sample.
