Dumfriesshire is a constituency for the Scottish Parliament . It was introduced in the course of the constituencies' revision in 2011 as one of nine constituencies in the electoral region of South of Scotland . It covers large parts of the former constituency of Dumfries in the Council Area Dumfries and Galloway , including the eastern part of the city of Dumfries . The constituency sends a representative.
The constituency covers an area of 2,790.2 km 2 . In the 2011 census survey, a total of 77,160 people lived within its borders.
