JR Allen
JR Allen , actually James R. Allen , (* 1930 , † February 15, 1973 near Rome , Floyd County , Georgia ) was an American politician .
Allen served as Mayor of Columbus , Georgia from 1969 until his death . He died on February 15, 1973 in a plane crash near Rome, Georgia. The member of the city council of Columbus, AJ McClung , took over the office of mayor pro tempore until the election of a new mayor.
