action

During his world record flight around the equator, Zeppelin commander Ulysses Eisenhardt has to make an emergency landing on a mysterious island due to a lack of fuel. Gasoline as a fuel is available here in almost unlimited quantities, but there is also a daughter of an American billionaire named Gladys. Eisenhardt's mission almost fails because of her hypnosis trick of turning all male islanders into animals. This is due to his strong will and her ardent love for him. Forgetting all hurt vanity, she happily floats away with him.

background

Reznicek called this work, created in 1928/29, a “cheerful, fantastic game with music”, linked to the ancient myth of Circe and Odysseus and the zeitgeist of the twenties . Presumably it was inspired by the Atlantic crossing of the airship Graf Zeppelin in 1928. The romantic style meets musically with the popular tunes and fashion dances that were popular at the time, which gave the work Kurzweil and Esprit.
