Advisory committee for the German bell system

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Advisory Committee for the German Bell System is an ecumenical advisory body of the Evangelical Church in Germany and the German Bishops' Conference , which is the "guiding and regulating hand of the German bell system" and generally aims to promote and develop the bell system in Germany.

history

The beginnings of the committee go back to the international exhibition Music in the Lives of the Nations in Frankfurt am Main in 1927. There, on the initiative of cathedral music director Peter Griesbacher (Regensburg), German bell scientists, bell experts and bell founders met for the first time. From this, the advisory committee for the German bell system arose in 1951 through an initially informationally networked student body . In 1951, the then chairman of the EKD Bishop Otto Dibelius (Berlin) and the chairman of the German Bishops' Conference Cardinal Frings (Cologne) approved the formal establishment of the committee and the new statutes. The current statutes of the committee date from 2008.

tasks

Within the framework of the specified goals, the committee advises ecclesiastical institutions on behalf of the two churches mentioned, gives reports on bell issues, organizes events such as bell days and promotes the training and further education of bell experts. The advisory committee consists of six members appointed by the German Bishops' Conference and the Evangelical Church in Germany. In addition, the advisory committee elects eight to ten members. Among those elected are four bell experts, two preservationists and two people from church building authorities. International bell experts join the normal members.

The advisory committee for the bell system , together with the Naturschutzbund Deutschland, has been implementing the church tower habitat project, which has been running since 2007 .
