Berl spoon

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Berlöffel is a hand tool in the salt works . It serves as a slotted spoon. The shape of a spoon or a trowel is not given. The foam that arises when the brine is boiled is driven on a boiling pan side or corner with this tool and then skimmed off the surface of the brine. It also serves to avoid crust formation on the brine surface, as this hinders crystallization and evaporation.

A sheet of sheet metal 8 "long and 4" wide is attached to a wooden handle 10 feet long and 1½ " thick.
