Johann Christian Gotthard

Johann Christian Gotthard (* around 1760 in Westhausen near Gotha ; † June 8, 1813 in Erfurt ) was a German economist , technologist and writer .

Life

Gotthard's training is largely unknown. In any case, he had the degree of Dr. phil. and became a full professor of economics, camera and police science at the University of Erfurt . In addition, he was an assessor for the Commercial Mercantile Deputation. On December 2, 1795 he was accepted into the Academy of Non-Profit Science in Erfurt . He was later a member of the royal Prussian mining commission and assistant to the Chamber of Commerce . After 1805 he was also appointed high school councilor and school inspector of the Erfurt schools.

It is sometimes stated that Gotthard was also a veterinarian . Gotthard did not mention this profession in relevant publications.

In addition to the Erfurt Academy, Gotthard was a member of many scientific societies, such as the Natural Research Society in Halle, the Westphalian Natural Research Society in Brockhausen, the Upper Lusatian Economic Bee Society, the Royal Economic Society in Potsdam, the Royal Economic Society in Leipzig and the ducal Saxony-Gotha-Altenburg and Meiningischen Societät der Forst und Jagdkunde.
