Berliner Strasse 17

The house at Berliner Straße 17 in Esslingen am Neckar is a residential building from the 19th century.

history

The building was built in 1897 on the corner of Berliner and Martinstrasse for the widow and private owner Rosa Schmückle, based on a design by the architect Hermann Falch . The initials RS in the coat of arms indicate the former owner; one of the tail gables is adorned with an eagle bearing the Esslingen city arms.

The corner location of the house is emphasized by a tower structure with a Welscher hood . The building is designed asymmetrically; it has an arcade loggia, exposed brickwork with sandstone frames and relief decoration . Inside, terrazzo floors , stucco decorations and several colored stained glass windows have been preserved.

In 1921/22, a garage was built in the direction of Martinstrasse , which was also designed by Hermann Falch. The lintel of this garage is designed in an expressionistic serrated line. The original garage door has been preserved.

The building houses, among other things, an advice center for the Protestant church.
