Berlin Gate Tower (Altlandsberg)
The Berlin gate tower is the oldest part of the city fortifications of Altlandsberg , a city in the state of Brandenburg , district of Märkisch-Oderland .
The town fortifications of Altlandsberg, which are still partially preserved today, were built in the 13th century. On a 22 meter long base there was once a 1.2 meter wide and 7 meter high house wall made of field stones . In the 14th century, a gate and the city wall were added to this wall, on the gable of which an 18 meter high tower with a pyramid helmet was built. In 1820 the gate was removed.
The Berlin Gate Tower can be climbed as a viewing tower and offers a good view of the old town.
