Berlin Tower (Burg near Magdeburg)
The Berlin Tower (also Berliner Torurm ) is a listed tower of the historic fortifications of the city of Burg in Saxony-Anhalt .
It is on the north side of Berliner Straße, east of the city center of Burger.
Architecture and history
The tower was built from field stones in the 14th century and was part of the Berlin Gate as a gate tower . The gate, also known as the Liebfrauentor , was demolished in 1806, although the round tower was retained. It has two layers of brick in the middle of its height. The tower is crowned by a wreath also made of brick. In the interior of the tower there are remains of rib vaults .
