Bernard Alan Aaron

Bernard Alan Aaron (stage name Bernardo ; * 1939 in Newcastle upon Tyne ) is a British guitarist, music teacher and composer.

Life

Bernard Alan Aaron grew up with his twin brother Harvey in Newcastle-on-Tyne. At the age of 21 he began to study classical guitar. In 1967 he emigrated to Canada. Here he studied at the Royal Conservatory of Music in Toronto and graduated with honors in 1972. He then taught classical guitar at several institutions, including the Toronto Board of Education and Seneca College. He later taught again in England. With Florence Novelli (1931–2014) he co-founded and from 1972 to 1984 music director of Toronto's Renaissance Theater. Aaron wrote the stage music for Novelli's plays. These musicals were published by Waterloo Music and Playwrights Canada Press , in 1975 he was commissioned by Jean Cavall with the music for fifteen LPs of the series Chants pour les Jeunes . In 1984 he returned to England with Florence Novelli. Both married in 1999. He also achieved a certain fame as a painter. His pictures, painted with acrylic paint , were exhibited in several galleries and ordered by private collectors. He took the motifs from the North American wilderness.
