Bernard Zimmer (born April 30, 1893 in Grandpré , † July 2, 1964 in Paris ) was a French playwright, dialog and screenwriter .

life and work

Bernard Zimmer initially worked as a lawyer, but then turned to journalism. In the 1920s he directed the magazine La Revue Rhénane with Alexandre Vialatte . After that, Zimmer devoted himself to acting. He was associated with the Paris Cartel des Quartres , a group consisting of the four theater directors Louis Jouvet , Charles Dullin , Gaston Baty and Georges Pitoëff . Zimmer became known as the author of numerous comedies, but also for his adaptation of ancient theater. His works have been published by Éditions Gallimard and successfully performed on the Parisian stages:
