Bernardo Hernández (born August 20, 1942 in Mexico City ), also known by the nickname Manolete , is a retired Mexican football player in the position of striker .

“Manolete” Hernández, who was born in the Tepito district , went through the youth departments of his home club Atlante from the age of seven. In 1961 he made his professional debut for the Potros in a city ​​derby against Club America .

With a total of 71 goals, which he scored for Atlante in the Mexican Primera División between 1961 and 1973 , "Manolete" is the fifth best scorer in the history of Atlante in the Mexican professional league introduced in 1943/44. His most successful season was in 1967/68, when he was the top scorer in the Mexican league with 19 goals .

National team
