Josef Bernbacher & Sohn GmbH & Co. KG is a family-run German pasta manufacturer based in Hohenbrunn in the Munich district .

history

The predecessor company, the bakery founded by Josef Bernbacher in the Au in 1898 , produced ribbon pasta. But only the son Anton expanded the pasta division, while Josef Bernbacher continued to run the bakery. For example, pasta was produced industrially for the first time in the early 1920s. In order to meet the increasing space requirements, the company relocated production to Trudering on the outskirts of Munich in the mid-1920s . The company's growth required another move in the 1930s for reasons of space. The former rooms of a bread factory on Tassiloplatz have served as the company headquarters and production facility since then.

On January 17th, 2012 it was announced that the company wanted to move from its traditional headquarters to Hohenbrunn in the Munich district . For this purpose, it had already acquired an area of 30,000 square meters at the new location. On the previous site at Tassiloplatz, 225 apartments were built from 2014 onwards; the completion took place in 2017. The newly built company building was put into operation in 2013 after a construction period of 17 months. For a number of years, storage areas outside of Munich have been used for reasons of space.

Products

The company has been the market leader in Bavaria since 1967 (as of 2011) and, in addition to egg noodles, also produces egg-free pasta. In addition, the company sells Nockerlgrieß , ready meals, pasta sauces and various types of pesto. Around 30,000 tons of pasta leave the factory premises every year.
