Bernd Kimpel is a former German basketball player .

career

Kimpel grew up in Offenbach , where he first played football and then basketball. He moved from Offenbach to Eintracht Frankfurt before moving to Israel to Hapoel Haifa . The inside player was under contract there for two years. In 1976 he moved to USC Heidelberg in the basketball league . With the USC Kimpel was promptly German champion and DBB cup winner in the 1976/77 season. In the following game year 1977/78 he won the cup competition with the Heidelberg team again and was runner-up in the Bundesliga.

1978 Kimpel went back to Frankfurt Eintracht in the 2nd basketball league . In 1982 he moved to 1. FC Bamberg. Behind Kennith Sweet Kimpel was in the Bundesliga season 1982/83 with 273 points scored the second best Bamberg scorer, but could not prevent relegation. In the 1983/84 season he was promoted to the Bundesliga with Bamberg. In 1985 he left Bamberg for MTV Kronberg .
