history
The history of the club begins in 1862 with 21 gymnasts who get together in the “Turnverein Cronberg” and from then on let off steam physically on a gymnastics area at the chestnut piece at the “Deutscher Kaiser”. It is the time of gymnastics father Jahn and the "physical training" is still rather unknown and revolutionary. But the whole thing also gets a proper framework with a gymnastics regulations.
1961 The association has grown to 523 members. The sports field at the school fields is inaugurated. From 1970 After the sporting activities in gymnastics, handball and athletics, numerous departments were founded. It all starts with the basketball department. It continues with the establishment of the judo and dance sport, sports badge group, running, hockey and cycling departments. 1984 The new club sports hall is inaugurated. The number of members of 2,567 makes MTV Kronberg a major club. From 1988 further departments were founded: ski school, leisure sports with health and sports courses, triathlon. There are now 13 departments for 2,756 members who exercise 240 hours a week. 1991 The large club family is taken into account by an extension with a sauna and fitness studio. The number of members continues to grow. At the end of 1992, 3,246 members were looked after by 121 trainers and instructors. 2003 At MTV there are sports offers for 3,833 members in 15 departments. 2012 MTV Kronberg celebrates its 150th anniversary.
Promotion of young talent
MTV Kronberg cooperates with the Bundesliga club Skyliners Frankfurt under the name Basketball Academy Rhein-Main .
