Bernd Wieland

Bernd Wieland (born May 5, 1960 - June 3, 2019 ) was a German motor journalist.

Career

Wieland holds a degree in business administration, a degree in journalism ( LMU Munich ) and a graduate of the German School of Journalism .

He started out as an editor for auto motor und sport in 1988 . In 1996 he became managing editor of auto motor und sport and Motor Klassik , in 1999 he became editor-in-chief of Motor Klassik and in 2004 he became deputy editor-in-chief of auto motor und sport .

When he moved to Axel Springer AG in April 2006, he became editor-in-chief of Auto Bild and in 2007 he was also editor-in-chief of Auto Bild Klassik . In addition, he was temporarily the editor of autobild.de and autobild.tv. On August 1, 2017, Wieland became editor-in-chief of “New Formats” of the Auto Bild Group and editor-in-chief of “AUTO BILD Klassik”. Since July 1, 2018, Wieland has been a freelance consultant at Axel Springer for the management of the publishing house (event and title concepts). At the same time, he started his own business as the founder of Bernd Wieland Media and worked as a journalist for automotive and mobility topics and as a consultant.

Wieland was the founding editor of the Youngtimer magazines, AUTO BILD Klassik, the newly founded Motor Revue at Axel Springer and AUTO BILD Reisemobil. He died unexpectedly in June 2019.
