Bernhard Beck (lawyer)

Bernhard Beck (born June 7, 1954 in Tuttlingen ) is a German lawyer and board member of EnBW AG.

Life

Bernhard Beck studied law at the University of Tübingen from 1974 to 1978 . This was followed by a legal clerkship in the district of the Stuttgart Higher Regional Court until 1981. From 1982 to 1983 he obtained a Master of Laws degree during a stay at the University of Pennsylvania (Philadelphia, USA). From 1979 to 1985 Beck was a research assistant to Klaus Hopt at the University of Tübingen and at the European University Institute in Florence. In 1985 he was promoted to Dr. jur. PhD with the topic “The extraterritorial application of national competition law with special consideration of transnational mergers”. From 1979 to 1984 he was also a lecturer in corporate and competition law at the professional academies in Villingen-Schwenningen and Heidenheim.

He began his professional career in the legal department of Robert Bosch GmbH , where he focused on antitrust law and international cooperation. During this time, he spent abroad in the USA, Italy, Portugal, Turkey, France, South Korea and China. From 1995 to 2001 he was head of the legal and insurance division at Badenwerk AG / EnBW AG, from 1999 to 2001 additionally spokesman for the management of EnBW Service GmbH, and from 2000 to 2001 also head of the human resources and social affairs division (in personal union ). In 2001 he became spokesman for the management of EnBW Energie-Vertriebsgesellschaft mbH until he became a member of the management board of EnBW Energie Baden-Württemberg AG in October 2002. From March 2003 to September 2004 he was also briefly CEO of EnBW Regional AG.

In 2011 he became an honorary member of the Phi Delta Phi Legal Association .
