Bernhard Ederer

Bernhard Ederer (* 1967 in Weiz ) is an Austrian politician ( ÖVP ). From 2005 to 2019 he was a member of the Styrian state parliament .

education and profession

Ederer did an apprenticeship as an optician and then attended the social academy in Mödling . From 1995 to 1996 Ederer was a legal advisor at the Styrian Chamber of Labor. From 1996 to 2002 he was an organizational officer at the Austrian Workers' Union (ÖAAB) Styria, where he took over as regional manager from 2014–2015. From 2002 to 2013 Ederer was the state secretary of the Christian Trade Union Party (FCG) Styria.

Ederer began his political career in 1988 as deputy local group chairman of the Young People's Party (JVP) Naas and between 1991 and 1994 he held the function of district chairman of the JVP Weiz. He was also a member of the regional management of the JVP Styria from 1991 to 1997. Ederer has been the deputy district party chairman of Weiz since July 1, 2004 and also district chairman of the ÖAAB Weiz since 2006. In 2000 he was also elected to the Chamber Council of the Styrian Chamber of Labor, which he held until 2015. Bernhard Ederer has been the chairman of Wiki since 2008, and vice-president of the Sportunion Steiermark since 2015.

Ederer has represented the ÖVP in the Styrian state parliament since October 25, 2005 and was spokesman for work, sport and childcare for the ÖVP state parliament club. He has also been mayor of the Naas community since 2015. According to his own statements, his political priorities include a comprehensive and flexible range of high-quality childcare facilities, a flourishing job market, strengthening the teaching profession and the best possible support for popular sport for a fit Styria and a better quality of life. After the state elections in 2019 , he left the state parliament.

Private

Ederer lives with his wife and son in the Naas community.
