Marie Bernhard before 1893

Marie Bernhard (born November 7, 1852 in Königsberg ; † 1937 ) was a German writer . She also wrote under the pseudonym Bernhard Frey .

Life

Bernhard was born in Königsberg, where her father worked as a professor and senior teacher at the Löbenichtschen Realgymnasium. She attended school in Königsberg and began working as a writer in 1879. At first she wrote under the pseudonym Bernhard Frey. Her first work was the novella Atonement , which was printed in the Berliner Tribüne and in the Hamburger Nachrichten . As a result, numerous novels, short stories and short stories were written. Bernhard also worked for various newspapers, including the gazebo . The entertaining writer, who was also economically successful for a long time, lost her pension assets in the wake of inflation and fell into distress.
