Bernhard I (Armagnac)
Bernhard I , called le Louche († 995 ), was the first count of Armagnac .
He was the younger son of Guillaume Garcès , Count of Fézensac . After the death of his father in 960 he received the county of Armagnac as apanage . As atonement for his deeds, he swore to make a pilgrimage to Jerusalem , but could not keep the oath. As compensation, he founded the Saint-Orens basilica in Auch . His son Géraud I. Trancaléon († 1020) was his successor.
