Bernhard Stroh Jr.

Bernhard Stroh, Jr. (born June 15, 1854 in the USA , † 1916 ) was a German-American brewer and president of the Stroh Brewery Company .

Life

Stroh's parents were Bernhard Stroh (1822–1882) and Eleonora Hauser (1833–1867). His father was the founder of the Lion's Head Brewery in Detroit .

After the death of his father in 1882, Stroh took over the office of president. He changed the name of the brewery to Bernhard Stroh Brewing Company . Under him the brewery began to sell beer outside of Detroit. In 1902 the name Stroh Brewery Company (also The Stroh Brewery Company ) was chosen . In 1908, due to poor health, Stroh retired and handed over the office to his brother Julius.

Bernhard Stroh Jr. married Elizabeth Satzman (* 1862, † 1939). The marriage had five children:

  • Elsa (* 1885; † 1922), married to Hiram Walker
  • Edwin Ralph (* 1888; † 1938), married to Catherine Remmick
  • Lorraine Edna (* 1889; † 1960), married to a man named Baker (first name not known)
  • Isabella Wilhelmina (* 1893; † 1960), married to James Standish, Jr.
