Rafael Souto , full name Rafael Ángel Souto Castro , (born October 24, 1930 in Montevideo ) is a former Uruguayan football player .

The offensive player Souto, the son of parents from La Coruña , was a member of the Nacional Montevideos squad in the Primera División from at least 1953 to 1954 . In any case, he was already in the championship final on February 25, 1953 in the starting XI Nacionals and won the Uruguayan championship title of 1952 with the club . He was later committed to Atlético Madrid , where he first started training on February 24, 1955 and was active until 1956. There he came to five missions and scored one hit.

National team

Souto was a member of the senior national team of Uruguay , for which he completed six international matches between March 1, 1953 and June 30, 1954. He did not score an international goal. Souto was part of the Uruguayan squad at the 1953 South American Championship in Peru . He also took part in the 1954 World Cup with Uruguay . There he came to his only tournament appearance in the course of the competition in the semi-final defeat against Hungary .
