Bert Bos (2007)

Gijs bert Bos (born 1963 in The Hague ) is a Dutch computer scientist who became known for the development and further development of the Cascading Style Sheets . In addition, he developed the Argo web browser as a test application for his stylesheet proposal.

Life and work

Bos studied mathematics at the University of Groningen and wrote his doctoral thesis on the rapid development of user interfaces with the GiST scripting language .

Together with the Norwegian computer scientist Håkon Wium Lie , he is developing the proposal for Cascading Style Sheets (CSS), which they submitted to the World Wide Web Consortium . Together with others, the two also published CSS2 in 1998 .

In 1996 he joined the World Wide Web Consortium (W3C) to work on the CSS. He is a former Chairman and the current W3C staff contact the CSS working group with headquarters in Sophia Antipolis , a technology park on the Cote d'Azur ..
