Berta von Bruneck is a character in Schiller's drama Wilhelm Tell . She is a rich heiress with estates in central Switzerland and belongs to Hermann Gessler's entourage . She stands up for the freedom of the Swiss and asks Gessler during the apple shot scene to let go of the shot, but the request does not ultimately convince Gessler.

Berta von Bruneck maintains a close relationship with Ulrich von Rudenz, the nephew of Baron Werner von Attinghausen . Rudenz is initially on the side of the Austrians, but is won over by Berta for the cause of the Confederates. In the final scene of the drama, Berta and Rudenz become engaged.
