Bertha Steedman
Bertha Steedman (* 1865 in Ercall Magna ; † January 11, 1945 in Seaford ) was a British tennis player from England .
Career
Steedman won seven doubles titles at the All England Championships between 1889 and 1899, in 1889 and 1890 each side by side with her sister Mary Steedman . Blanche Bingley was her partner from 1893 to 1897, Ruth Durlacher in her last victories in 1898 and 1899 . Her success in doubles was due to the fact that Steedman and her sister Mary were one of the first to use volleys in the ladies .
In singles, she reached the semi-finals at Wimbledon from 1889 to 1892 and 1899. At her last tournament participation in 1902, she was eliminated in the quarterfinals.
