Berthold Ottens (* 1942 ) is a German mineral collector, trader and amateur mineralogist.

He specializes in minerals from China and India. B. Ottens lives in Walsdorf (2008). Berthold Ottens himself has traveled and explored China more than 45 times. Fascinating pictures and reports of his travels are collected in the comprehensive work called "China" published in 2008.

In 2011 his book about India was published, for which he made several trips to India in 2009 and 2010. In earlier years he was more frequent in India until new finds in China piqued his interest and he specialized in them. He has published several articles and travelogues in collector's magazines ( Lapis and Mineralogical Record ) over the years .

In 2006, Berthold Ottens received the 'Friends of Mineralogy' award in Tucson for the best article in 2005 in the Mineralogical Record on the subject of minerals and sites in China.

The mineral Ottensite was named after Berthold Ottens and officially recognized in June 2006. Ottensite is very rare and only occurs at one site worldwide (Sb-Au deposit Dachang, Qinglong Co., Guizhou, China). There are only a few finds.
