Berthold Wittich

Berthold Wittich (born October 18, 1933 in Heringen ) is a German politician ( SPD ). From 1987 to 1998 he was a member of the German Bundestag for three electoral terms.

Life

Wittich attended a secondary school in Heringen and, after graduating from high school in 1954, studied at the University of Marburg and the Pedagogical University of Darmstadt. After graduating, he worked as a teacher at a primary school in Mecklar and a middle school in Ludwigsau. Wittich became a member of the education and science union and was on the local board of directors for twelve years, as well as a liaison to the DGB. He was on the board of the working group for employee issues and in the DGB district committee.

Wittich joined the SPD in 1956 and was chairman of the Friedlos / Reilos local association for a time. From 1977 to 1989 he was in the district council, where he was the school policy spokesman for the SPD district parliamentary group. Wittich was a member of the German Bundestag from 1987 to 1998 in the eleventh to thirteenth electoral term and represented constituency 128 (Hersfeld) there, elected by direct mandate. He was a full member of the Committee on Food, Agriculture and Forestry for the eleventh term and was also a member of the Committee on Youth, Family and Health. In his last two terms he was a full member of the Committee on Transport.
