Berti is an extinct language and is one of the Saharan languages .
It was spoken in western Sudan in the Tagabo Mountains of northern Darfur and in Kurdufan . The Berti people had fully adopted the local dialect of the Arabic language by the early 20th century . Around 1960, old people could still understand a few words in the Berti language.
