Bertold Siber

Bertold Siber (* 1943 in Singen am Hohentwiel ) is a German chef .

Life

Bertold Siber completed an apprenticeship as a chef in the well-known Konstanz Hotel Halm in 1957 . He then studied with the new stars of French cuisine Paul Bocuse and Roger Vergé . After working in Sweden and Switzerland , he came to Lake Constance . From 1973 to 2004 he was a cook in Konstanz , initially in the Stephanskeller in downtown Konstanz, later in the Seehotel Siber , an Art Nouveau villa on the lake shore. Together with Eckart Witzigmann and others, he launched nouvelle cuisine in Germany .

In September 1996, Siber was robbed at his home; a bullet of the robbers missed his heart by only a few centimeters, so that Siber survived the crime.

Awards

Bertold Siber was awarded a Michelin star and 18 Gault Millau points (three toques). In 2005 he received the “Genuss Award” for his life's work in the Bregenz Festival Hall. He had numerous television appearances as well as reports in magazines.
