Biel-Bienne vocational training center
The Biel-Bienne Vocational Training Center (BBZ Biel-Bienne for short) is a vocational school in Biel ( Switzerland ). It offers training in the dual vocational training system , full-time training, the vocational baccalaureate , the pre-vocational school year and further training courses. The BBZ Biel-Bienne is a bilingual center where lessons are given in German and French, depending on the occupation.
Location
The BBZ Biel is spread over three locations in Biel, the largest bilingual city in Switzerland. The school part of vocational training in the dual system, the vocational baccalaureate and further training courses take place in the buildings on Wasenstrasse. The technical college (full-time training) is located at the Salzhausstrasse location. The vocational preparatory school year is located on the Linde site on Scheibenweg and in Unionsgasse.

25 vocational training courses are offered at the BBZ. Five apprenticeships are completed after two years with a federal professional certificate (EBA). The remaining 20 training courses are completed with a federal certificate of proficiency (EFZ) after a training period of 3 to 4 years.

Basic vocational training takes place in three buildings on the Wasenstrasse site. The infrastructure includes, among other things, a large kitchen, bakery, demo kitchen, hairdressing salon, workshops (automotive, construction, electronics) and around 700 PCs . There is also a cafeteria and a sports hall on this area .
Additional offers are:
- “Rent a stift”: learners report in school classes about their experiences during their training.
- “Varazze”: bilingual, cross-learning teaching project for hairdresser EFZ and baker-confectioner EFZ, EBA
- “Culinaria”, a professional information and exhibition of food professions that takes place every 2 years in November.
Vocational school leaving certificate
The vocational baccalaureate can also be obtained on the site on Wasenstrasse . The vocational baccalaureate diploma is a prerequisite for studying at a university of applied sciences or other secondary schools after completing vocational training . At the BBZ, the vocational school-leaving certificate can be started during or after vocational training.
Technical college
The technical college is the training workshop at the vocational training center in Biel and trains 200 apprentices in 4 areas: watchmaking, mechanics, construction and electronics. As a competence center for microtechnology, the technical college offers high-quality and broad-based practical training in 8 professions. 21 professionally trained vocational trainers with industrial experience and a modern infrastructure offer the ideal conditions for this.
Graduates of the technical college are sought-after specialists in numerous companies in the watch and precision industry, micro and medical technology, as well as in robotics and automation.
An open house takes place in November.
Pre-vocational school year
The bridging offers accompany young people who have not found a solution at the end of their compulsory schooling, who may have broken off an apprenticeship or who have only been living in our country for a short time and hardly speak German in the transition from school to basic vocational training. During this year the young people can consolidate their school knowledge and acquire new skills in connection with their future profession.
