Professional culture

Occupational culture is a term for the socialization processes that are associated with exercising a profession or working in a professional field. This includes typical evaluations, forms of communication and long-term personality shaping . When exercising a profession, there are “job-specific socialization processes that lead to the development of group or job-specific standardizations (with regard to evaluating, acting, perceiving, etc.). These have a guiding or orientation function for professional action and are to be regarded as an integral part of job profiles. ”However, it is different in strength and can show considerable internal differentiations. As a result of such collective imprinting, a job-specific or professional habitus can develop.
