The Professional Association of German Urologists eV ( BvDU ) is a registered association based in Berlin with the aim of advocating the professional and professional interests of its members. The association has around 2,600 members (as of December 31, 2016).

history

Founding meeting of the “Professional Association of German Specialists in Urology e. V. ”in Bad Wildungen on May 29, 1954 by 30 urologists at the invitation of Kurt Schneider, initiated by Karl Heusch on behalf of the German Society for Urology . In 1972 the name was changed to “Professional Association of German Urologists e. V. ". The founding board included Kurt Schneider (President 1954–1959), Fritz May, Clement Leyh, Klaus Kraft and Paul Thelen. As the first specialist medical professional association, the two urological professional associations West and East were merged in autumn 1990.

aims

The association represents the professional and economic interests of its members vis-à-vis statutory health insurance associations , medical associations , the federal government, ministries, health authorities, international institutions, professional organizations and the public. It advises and supports its members in technical, economic and professional law issues (e.g. civil law, criminal law, labor law, social law, contract law). It promotes national and international cooperation in the field of urology, professional training and is involved in shaping the training regulations and the professional profile.

structure

Any urologist , including young doctors in training, can become a member of the association upon request . The organs of the association are the general assembly, the main committee, the presidium, the state associations (19), the state boards, working groups, committees, the honorary council and the honorary president. The association's office is in Berlin. Roland Zielke is the managing director.

In autumn 2016, the SgDU Servicegesellschaft der Deutschen Urologen mbH was founded as a 100% subsidiary of the professional association of German urologists. It bundles its service, consulting and contractual services.
