Cast couch

Casting couch or casting couch is the euphemistic description of the phenomenon that those responsible for the cast of characters in theater , opera houses , the film industry or in the music business of applicants or candidates require intimate acts in return or being offered. The consequence in the room is that they would otherwise not be considered for the offered role or general participation.

The phenomenon affects sexual assault, harassment or offers of varying intensity that are endured or accepted. Women who were booked via the cast couch are mentioned more frequently in the media . However, both heterosexual and homosexual variants are documented.
