Remnants of a wall of the desert sing about

Besingen (other spelling: Beisingen) is a desert in the district of Göttingen . It is located about 3.2 km south of Osterode am Harz , 2 km northwest of Düna and 0.6 km southeast of the small settlement of Beierfelde. There are several documented mentions from the year 979, but it is not clear whether this place is meant. Singing should have become desolate after 1360.

According to the results of a site survey, Besingen was probably a two-line village with a relatively large church. Only sparse remains of this church were visible in 1965. In 1977 the floor plan was uncovered, showing that the church was about 20 m long and 7 m wide.

The location is on the edge of the nature reserve Gipskarstlandschaft Hainholz
