Beslan Konstantinovich Bartsits (Russian: Беслан Константинович Барциц; born July 22, 1978 in Gagra ) is a former Abkhazian politician. He was Prime Minister of Abkhazia from 2016 to 2018 .

Life

In 2000 he graduated from the Abkhaz State University with a law degree and from 2001 to 2004 was a PhD student at the South Federal University in Rostov. Between 2007 and 2009 he was Raul Khajimba's assistant in his capacity as Vice President of Abkhazia.

In the local elections in February 2011, Bartsits was elected deputy to the Gagra District Assembly in constituency No. 5 and became vice chairman. In the parliamentary elections in March 2012, he successfully ran for a seat in the 5th legislative period of the People's Assembly of Abkhazia in constituency No. 11 (Gagra). In a field of nine candidates, he received 20.86% of the vote in the first round. In the second round he defeated the runner-up Vitali Azhiba . In parliament, Bartsits was deputy chairman of the Committee on Legal Policy, State Building and Human Rights.

On October 22, 2014, after the revolution in May 2014, he was appointed acting head of the Gagra district by the newly elected President Raul Khajimba . The following year he was confirmed in his post. On May 16, 2016, Bartsits was appointed Head of Administration for the President of Abkhazia to succeed Astamur Tania , who had resigned.

On August 5, 2016, Bartsits was appointed Prime Minister to succeed Artur Mikvabia , who had resigned ten days earlier. He was in office until April 25, 2018.
