Beslan Butba

Beslan Butba ( Abkhazian Беслан Быҭәба / Beslan Bytuba, Russian Беслан Бутба / Beslan Butba; born February 7, 1960 in Chlou , Otschamtschire district , Abkhazian ASSR , Georgian SSR , Soviet Union ) is an Abkhazian politician and media entrepreneur.

Life

Beslan Butba went to school in his home village of Chlou and the Abkhazian capital Sukhumi . He then studied civil engineering in Moscow , where he also worked after graduating in 1983. After the end of the real socialist system in the Soviet Union, he worked in the private construction industry. During the Abkhazian War of Independence in the early 1990s, he supported his Abkhazian compatriots by organizing aid transports and medical care for the wounded in Moscow clinics. At the end of the 1990s he returned from Moscow to his Abkhaz homeland, where he was actively involved in politics. From 2002 to 2007 he was a member of the Abkhaz parliament. In September 2007 he was elected chairman of the Abkhazian Economic Development Party ( Partija ERA ). In the same year he founded the first non-state television station in Abkhazia, Abasa TV . In the presidential election in Abkhazia on December 12, 2009 , he ran as a candidate for the office of Abkhazian head of state.

Between 2012 and 2014 Butba sat again as a member of the Abkhaz parliament. In 2013 he was appointed special envoy of the Abkhazian President for cooperation with the countries of Central and Latin America . From 2014 to 2015 he held the post of Prime Minister of Abkhazia.

Butba has been president of the Abkhaz football club Nart Sukhum since 2005 .
