Confirmation number

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

A confirmation number ( BEN ) is a receipt for a transaction number (TAN).

As a participant in electronic banking , you receive a list of transaction numbers . A TAN must be entered for every booking process - the transaction . It is more or less a signature and expires after a single use.

Some banks add a confirmation number (BEN) to each TAN. The bank computer sends this with the confirmation of the order signed by the customer with a TAN.

If the comparison with the BEN shown on the TAN list turns out to be negative, the communication with the bank computer was simulated by fraudsters (e.g. using a Trojan ). The alarmed customer can now immediately block his access or contact his bank to take countermeasures.
