Assembly

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The military language of the 17th to 20th centuries referred to the gun armament of a warship as equipment . The term is derived from piece , the older name for a gun. The term is sometimes used today as it was then in the same sense on fortifications such as forts or entrenchments and also on aircraft and can also mean the armament with rockets or carrier aircraft.

The term assembly is also used in electronics manufacturing. In this context, assembly stands for the application of the individual components such as resistors, diodes and other SMD components to the carrier material, e.g. B. a circuit board or a ceramic substrate (for example on LTCC , thick-film substrate ).
