Concrete and reinforced concrete construction is a profession that specializes in the manufacture of concrete components. Its spectrum ranges from the manufacture of the formwork , the preparation and installation of the reinforcement to the manufacture, processing and post-treatment of the concrete. In addition to manual working methods, high-tech and computer-aided aids are also increasingly being used today. The manufacture of prefabricated parts in workshops is gaining in importance . Training to become a concrete and reinforced concrete worker usually lasts three years.

In Austria, women are considered to be heavy workers as opposed to men within the meaning of the Heavy Labor Ordinance and the related professional list. Employers have to report the existence of heavy work in women from the age of 35 (men from the age of 40) independently to the health insurance ( § 5 Heavy Labor Ordinance).

One occupation of the concrete and reinforced concrete construction trade is the reinforcing steel bender and braider as well as the specialization as a concrete repairer .
