Concrete tent

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The concrete tent (Engl. Concrete Canvas Shelters (CCS)) is one of the industrial designers William Crawford and Peter Brewin for disaster relief developed emergency shelter . The concrete-reinforced canvas combines the advantages of tents and solid concrete structures.

concept

The concrete tent is delivered in a package that weighs around 230 kilograms with a tent area of 16 m². The packaging is made of waterproof PVC film, the tent wall itself is a concrete-filled sandwich construction made of linen fabric and PVC film (Concrete Canvas (CC)). The volume of the packaging corresponds to that of the water that must be added in order to achieve a suitable mixing ratio between water and concrete. After the water has been added, the tent needs to be inflated, which takes about 40 minutes. It then hardens for 12–24 hours and can then be used. With an angle grinder , entrances, windows, ventilation slots or the like can be cut into the dried wall. There are different sizes with areas between 16 and 50 square meters, the shape corresponds statically to that of half an eggshell or a Nissen hut and the wall thickness is 5–13 mm. The construction work can be done by two people.

financing

A tent package costs between 2,000 and 15,000 euros - the industrial manufacturability of the tent could, however, drastically reduce the costs in mass production . The first sales partner so far is the South Korean Shin Seung.
